Hi there! I'm Sara Baurley—yes, like the grain (bar-lee).​

I'm a freelance photographer and photo assistant based in Atlanta, Georgia, working across the Southeast and beyond. I specialize in brand, lifestyle, and editorial photography that feels natural, intentional, and grounded in story. I collaborate with small businesses, creative teams, and publications to create scroll-stopping, strategy-driven imagery. As a photo assistant, I bring a sharp eye, a calm presence, and a deep understanding of lighting, production, and Capture One to commercial sets.

Originally from Pompano Beach, Florida—a place where you learn to drive a boat before a car—my upbringing shaped my love of vivid color, strong natural light, and life on the water. I earned my BFA in Photography and a Minor in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, graduating with honors from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

After college, I completed a year-long photography fellowship at Dotdash Meredith’s Food Studios in Birmingham, Alabama. There, I worked alongside industry-leading photographers on editorial shoots for brands such as Food & Wine, Southern Living, and Real Simple—an experience that prepared me to jump into the fast-paced freelance world.

Now based in Atlanta for the past two years, I split my time between shooting for clients and assisting on commercial sets in Atlanta, Birmingham, and wherever else work takes me.

A Little Backstory.

My journey into photography began outdoors—shooting landscapes on hikes through the Blue Ridge Mountains and paddling through the mangrove marshes of the Florida Keys. Over time, my focus shifted toward the people and food connected to those places. That blend of nature, culture, and storytelling still shapes my approach today.

When I’m Not Working.

I’m on a mission to visit (and photograph) every U.S. National Park. So far, I’ve crossed off all three in Florida and the Great Smoky Mountains. I’m also a big fan of limoncello La Croix—which explains the citrus-themed headshot.​

As the owner of Sara Baurley Photo LLC, I offer full-service photography including lifestyle, editorial, product, food, and travel. I shoot from my fully equipped in-home studio or travel with my setup—near or far—to meet clients where they are. I’m also an FAA-certified drone pilot and provide aerial photography services for a unique, elevated perspective.

If you're in need of a photo assistant, I bring a calm, organized presence to set, along with deep experience across commercial productions. I'm highly proficient and certified in Capture One Pro and have assisted on shoots for brands in food, interiors, travel, product, fashion, and editorial spaces. Based in Atlanta, I also can work locally in Birmingham, Asheville, Greenville, and South Florida (Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and Miami), and I’m always open to travel.
